We can find different elements in our daily life related to groundwater. There are some very famous tanks in the world, which are the cisterns of Istanbul. The Basilica Cistern is the largest of the 60 tanks built in antiquity Istanbul. It was used as a water tank until the nineteenth century, and then it was used as a warehouse of wood. But before building this work in Istanbul, aqueduct Roman times, some of which were below ground. The aqueduct was an artificial canal used for transporting the water to the city through canals surface, underground galleries, etc.
I think that in the story the groundwater and the underground galleries helped other peoples in her live, because the water was necesary in the past. So the small thinks can be ver y necesary in our life.
